Comments
Comments: General mix of conditions overall -- patchy snow/ occasional minor monorail at start, eventually moderately deep snow on the ridge. Some mud, areas of running water; lower trail had firm patchy snow in AM, was soft in PM, but due to spottiness, bare ground, rocks, etc., snowshoes not very useful. Put on crampons in the gully (around 2500 feet) and wore them to summits and back - microspikes would have been fine in most places, but crampons were appreciated on the steeps. Only a very few bare spots above the gully. Trail from the gully up was firm enough (and weather stayed cool enough) that snowshoes were not needed (carried them all the way.) A heavy dusting of new snow above about 3000 feet, which caused some balling on crampons.
