| Water Crossing Notes: |
crossing at .3 miles was in good shape, crossing at 1.1 miles was mostly fine but was fairly thin and breaking through was easy in a couple of spots. I suspect that will change with cold temps this week. |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
trail was in great condition |

Had a great day hiking up and back. First time on Tecumseh and enjoyed the gradual trails and great views! Started off at almost 0 degrees and may have stayed single digits all day. Did a little leap frogging with a nice couple who had a dog. I loved getting out for this early winter condition hike. I made the mistake of saying early winter instead of early winter CONDITIONS to one party we passed and got a "nice" lecture about how it wasn't winter yet from someone who clearly must have thought I'm some newbie without as much knowledge as her. Sorry chica, but if you're reading this, I'm no newbie.
We bare booted up but found a couple of spots where thin snow was layered over some blue ice. Made for some lovely energy sucking slips. We didn't want to deal with any unsure footing on the way down, so we threw on the crampons going down until about 1 mile from the trail head where things flatten out. My guess with all the new snow is no worries about traction, just maybe snow shoes. |
