| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Large cleared parking lot on Ferncroft Rd. I was the only one there. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Ice - Black, Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Ice - Breakable Crust |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Small stream near Sandwich Wilderness sign; ez rock hop. Larger stream up the trail before you start climbing. Snow covered rocks, took a little bit to find the right rock pattern to cross. Poles were helpful. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Older blowdowns, trail easily goes around or hop over. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Hiked with Murphy. Difficult ice north of Rollins Trail jct; tricky on the way down but we did it. Had to go first and help him down or guide him up; he was crying like a baby (big bad GSD...). Water crossings and other small streams provided water to drink. Other than that the trail was fine for him. |
