Comments
Comments: We had the hill almost to ourselves today only saw 2 other people descending from Pierce. That was because of fairly high winds on the ridge, the very cold temps and the trails that are virtual skating rinks. Used spikes (sharp ones) all the way to the junction of Crawford Path and Eisenhower Loop. Switched at that point to crampons which for the ascent of Eisenhower were overkill. Climbing the cone of Eisenhower there was very little ice. But once we figured that out we were in the winds so we just kept going. Once back on the Crawford Path, crampons were helpful and I kept mine on back to the Mizpah Cutoff and then switched back to spikes. The trail ice right now is unbelievable. Sharp foot gear is a must. Congrats to BillC for getting 337 of 576. Hopefully we get some snow!! But still a great day on top.
