Mostly dry clear trail until the dip down into where the 3rd crossing is. Light traction needed for this. The ice coverage gets progressively worse as one climbs. Above the steps until the ridge is the worst. The summit cone had very little ice. The snow is pretty much gone. Used my Hillsounds for the ascent and switched to my Hillsound Pros on the way down. Bruce used his full crampons for the descent. Crampons are not an overkill. Excellent purchase with both the Pros and full crampons. If you don't have sharp micro spikes, you might have some issues, although there are still lots of rocks to tiptoe on. Nice hooking up with Bruce P. today. |
