Comments
Comments: Nice clear day, cold at the base and windy in places . Minor flow ice on Hancock Notch Trail. Once onto Cedar Brook there was more of it though bootable with care. Icy rocks on several of the crossings made it interesting. Loop trail had more flow ice and I put on spikes near the side hill brook crossing and left them on back to there though certainly there were stretches of dry trail. Ascent to South had some ice but not bad really. Cold and blustery on the summit..it seems always windy there. Trail across had a dusting of snow, some frozen granular, some ice..spikes were perfect. Once to the col the winds died and the ascent to North via the tunnel was smooth sailing. Far ranging views on a pretty clear day. Parts of the descent were soft, some hard, some wet, some blue ice..while person in front of me booted it I being the sissy kept spikes on and that worked fine and kept me in the trailbed as well. Fast track back out..temps dropped quickly as the sun started down..I would expect some more of the water spots to be frozen overnight. Great day out.
