| Comments: |
The lower half of the trail was pretty much snow free but the upper reaches were very snowy. The trail was well trampled so the snow had good traction. I did not have microspikes and had no trouble with my hiking boots, though others in my group had spikes and were happy to have them. Even the few icy spots were granular and had minimal slip potential. The melting snow crated mud and wet leaves on the descent which were much more of a hazard than ice and snow. The summit was snow free and gorgeous as Garfield always is. |
