Comments
Comments: Have never taken the abandoned Fire Wardens Trail to Hale so I figured it was time to give it a try. There was a light dusting of snow at the higher elevations but just frost at the lower elevations. The trip along the North Twin Trail to the first river crossing was pretty standard. From there we took the herd path to avoid the first and second river crossings. The Fire Wardens Trail departs the herd path about half way between the two crossings. The herd path was muddy in spots and there were a few blow downs that were easy to get past. The Fire Warden Trail leaves the heard path at "a sturdy little tree in the middle of the path" (there was also a cairn there) and climbs up the berm and makes it way through the woods. The trail is muddy in spots and there were some blowdowns but considering it's an abandon trail it was in pretty good condition. It was never steep and there were numerous switchbacks. Thoroughly enjoyed this route and looking forward to giving it a try in winter.

Here's a summary from the lost hiking trails web page.
