 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trails in good condition. Most tree falls are on the ground. A large evergreen at the Walden - East Loop junction is leaning above the trail. This is no problem now but may pose an obstruction during the snow season. Trail signs at the Square Ledge - Walden junction are in poor condition |

 | Comments: |
Saw no other hikers today on Passaconaway. Saw traces of snow starting at 2,400 feet. A more widespread snow cover of less than an inch was mainly on Walden and Dicey's Mill trails above the East Loop junctions. A thin layer of ice covered by a dusting of snow on some of the rock steps or ledges on the cone of Mt Passaconaway. I did not bring traction but it would have provided securer footing. Started down to the north outlook where the ground was starting to freeze up but it caved in to mud and water when stepped upon. Decided to discontinue the trek to the north outlook as it was obvious that low clouds would prevent any decent views. I did have nice views from the Walden Trail south facing outlook and the eastward looking viewpoint. Good views of Mt Tripyramid and Tecumseh from the northwest outlook on Dicey's Mill trail. |
