Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Crossings on FW Trail are running fairly high -- not dangerous, but you're gonna get your boots wet. If you're creative and careful, you will *only* get your boots wet. (I was creative and careful on 4 of 5 of them.)
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Quite a few blowdowns more exposed now that the snow has melted. None terrible, but will certainly be a priority once the trail crews are out.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: At the highest crossing on FW, I watched a guy carry his dog across on his shoulders. My guess is that he did that for 3 or 4 crossings. Between that and soft snow...

Comments
Comments: Classic, little-bit-of-everything conditions. Light traction (micros) was helpful for the ascent up to the hut and on to treeline. Snowshoes were helpful on the descent to prevent postholing. The ridgeline itself is bare between Little Haystack and Lincoln except for a short section around the Gargoyle. Between North Lincoln and Lafayette you go through quite deep drifts, some of which have spruce traps laying in wait.
