Comments
Comments: Zealand and Ethan Pond Trail are in incredible shape. Shoal Pond is a mix of open trail to narrow over grown trail. There are a few places with some boot sucking mud. Some of the bog bridges are old and rotted and move around. There are a few water crossings but they are all short and easily rock hopped (unless there is a huge storm that comes through, of course). The trail is unblazed but easy to follow. However, the start of the trail from the Stillwater Junction side can be a little confusing. After crossing the brook at Stillwater Junction take an immediate left, walk about a hundred feet or so and bang a right, the trail heads into the brush along a narrow single track then opens up. Carrigain Notch Trail to the Desolation Trail is in good shape. Desolation Trail is steep and has some awful footing mixed in over the last mile. Signal Ridge Trail is in good shape.
