Comments
Comments: For those familiar with these trails, everything is in great shape. If you didn't know, the footbridge on the spur that leads from the Cog station to intercept the Jewell Trail has been fixed. For hikers unfamiliar to these trails, Ammonoosuc Ravine Trailhead has a $3 fee, the first two miles to the Gem Pool is gradual and has decent footing. From the Gem Pool to Lakes of the Clouds Hut is very steep over rough footing with roots and rocks and then becomes mostly rock slab as it travels up along the Ammoonoosuc River. Mount Monroe Loop trail is gravel and rocks. Crawford Path from Lakes of the Clouds Hut to Mount Washington has sections of well placed boulders and sections that aren't as friendly, beware of the loose rocks! Gulfside Trail to Jewell Trail junction is more of the same. Jewell Trail above treeline has the usual northern presi's rough footing over more boulders. Once below treeline the trail becomes easier on the feet becoming mostly dirt with a mix of rocks and roots here and there.
