Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Crossings were rock-hoppable
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Beaver Brook Trail is perfectly maintained. The herd path to Blue feels like a maintained trail.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I wouldn't consider Beaver Brook Trail dog-friendly. Glad we left Max at home...he would have hated this hike. Constant sharp boulders going up, steep slick slabs, several places where one slip will have a canine falling into a waterfall...IMO, not the best place for Fido.
Bugs
Bugs: None. Love this time of year!

Comments
Comments: I had imagined Beaver Brook Trail to be a nasty rock scramble, given its reputation. It's really just 2 miles of stair-stepping...steep and tough, but not scrambly. There are two or three places where a slip could take you off the side of the trail and into the waterfall though, so care is needed.

No need to bushwhack to Blue -- a well-defined herd path leaves Beaver Brook Trail on the west side of Blue, right where Beaver Brook Trail turns north (as you're ascending). The herd path is currently marked with a small cairn. Took us five minutes to reach the canister.

Saw 5 NOBO thru-hikers and gave them Snickers bars. Met Russ and 10-year-old Becca, a dad-daughter duo currently making their way through the NH48. Always good to see other girls out on the trail.

Nice day out. Alex's 5th time on Moosilauke, Sage's 3d. We ate mousse on the summit (Desserts on the 48!). Trip report will be posted on my blog this Tuesday.
