Lovely through Zealand ponds area..ran into the ice cream man..McRat..on his mission..what a great day for that!! Saw 20+ thru hikers along the Twinway and advised them to look out for the guy with the cooler..Great job! Trails in great shape..opted for out and back from Zealand to avoid carspot. Excepting the reclimb of Bond this was a piece of cake with dry trail and rock today and easy going. Lots of people out and I would guess the huts and shelters were full tonight. Views were a little hazy at times but the cloud cover did keep the sun off us a bit. Thanks Andrea for a great day out. Made decent time car to car. Lots of campers..saw one looper who was going strong and hut to hut attempt who was hitting the wall at Guyot..gave some encouragement..hope that helped As a footnote the swim spot at the parking lot..while excellent..is a bit chilly...all good |
