Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails dry and in pretty good shape. No significant blowdowns. I scraped some crud out of a few waterbars.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Two paws up from Pepper. The slides were pretty easy but they slowed his hiking partner down so he often had to wait. They were also dry and open to the sun, so he was glad I brought a lot of water. The road walk in and out was a joy, with many sip n dip stops, some squeaky critters to chase and lots of smells to read up on since his last hike on the road. Early in the hike we met Pauly, a much bigger happy go lucky black dog who was doing the loop in preparation for a Presi traverse. This would be an awful dog trail when wet, and even when dry only experienced dogs should attempt it, IMHO. It isn't just the physical conditioning but the making of good choices on the trail, since a bad choice could lead to a long slide or setting rocks down the ledges. Same for humans though.

Comments
Comments: It had been a long time since I hiked the north slide, so I had waited quite a bit for what I hoped would be a very dry north slide, with some of the sun filtered out and no one else to knock rocks on us or vice versa. Today it was both; a really perfect slide day except perhaps for the picts. Thus the hike up was pretty easy with wonderful views. A side path has formed in the lower sections where there is some moss on the rocks making them slippery, though not so much today, and this path is quite easy. We've often hiked the south slide up so it was interesting to go down it. For Pepper it was easy going down, for me I took my time no longer being as nimble as I once was. We enjoyed this hike but we'll go back to the south slide up and Scaur down for our next set of hikes; that being one of our favorites.
