Comments
Comments: The Moriah Brook Trail was very interesting, and had more falls and pools per mile than any other trail, in my opinion. The trail sticks with the brook all the way to the headwater just below the Imp/Moriah Col. Clear hiking to Moriah and the Rattle River Junction on Carter-Moriah and Kenduskeag. After the AT turns onto Rattle River, Maintenance and condition worsens greatly. Parts of the Kenduskeag are almost bushwacks and heavily overgrown.. We expected and got the same on the Shelburne Trail. When we arrived at the Highwater Trail Junction we found that that portion of the trail had been washed away (Irene?) A few cairns had been placed , but as they were not obvious enough for us, we decided to cross the Wild River directly at the old bridge site. The Water there was groin high so we dripped and sloshed our way down the dirt road to our car. If we had more time and weren't eager for supper,we would have spent more time locating the remaining Highwater Trail. A few signs or marks here would be of great help.
