Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All fairly easy hops, though in high water, many of them would be impassable.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Sawyer River Trail in good shape. Hancock Notch Trail up to the height of land was muddy and pretty narrow in spots. Cedar Brook up to the loop was fine, with some muddy sections. The Hancock Loop was in great shape, especially between the peaks with new bog bridging having been installed. Cedar Brook down to the Wilderness Trail was fantastic, with a soft footbed most of the way, and only minor muddy areas. It had one step over blowdown that I can recall, before the wilderness boundary. Wilderness Trail in good shape. Carrigain Notch Trail had one climb over blowdown, otherwise good. Signal Ridge was fine, though muddy in the rerouted areas.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes:
Bugs
Bugs: Negligible with the cool temperatures.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Some human excrement and toilet paper, directly on Cedar Brook Trail, just as we stepped over the only blowdown on the trail. For one, go off trail. For two, bury that s**t!

Comments
Comments: What was a plan to bag the Hancocks and Carrigain as a big loop, turned into tagging the Hancocks and circumnavigating Carrigain. Cool temperatures and great company made this long day completely worth it. Beyond the Hancock Loop junction, we saw two people, off in the woods next to the Wilderness Trail... I don't think they expected to see us, and we didn't expect to see them! Many new redlining miles!
