| Comments: |
No snow to speak of on the new part of the Mt. Kinsman Trail. A few minor patches of ice (light traction a good idea) just before the first water crossing. After that, ice/monorail/spring snow to Bald Peak junction (light traction to this point). Spring snow with some monorail above this and to the ridge - light traction was fine in the morning, however by late afternoon it was way too soft and required snowshoes. Ledge scrambles on the Kinsman Ridge are all nicely filled in. As with Mt. Kinsman Trail, light traction was enough early in the morning, but by late morning snowshoes were necessary to avoid postholing halfway to China. |
