| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Plenty of parking at Stony Brook - only a couple cars there all day! |
| Surface Conditions: |
Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |
| Recommended Equipment: |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Crossings were all pretty OK - rock-hoppable. At the Dolly Copp Picnic area, on the map it looked like there might be a bridge across the Peabody River so I could get to the Great Gulf Link across Route 16 from the Imp Trail without walking through the entire campground. Looks like the bridge may have been there 50 years ago.... thigh-deep wading but sunny so it was refreshing!!!! |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Recent storms blew a lot of branches and deadfall down on the trails!!!! I picked up what I could but there was some bigger stuff!!!! |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Plenty of water - lots of places to fill up!!!!! But, C-M trail would be a little rough on dogs!!!! |
| Bugs: |
mid-level (non-deet) needed - bugs that fly in your eyes/ears!!!!! |

| Comments: |
Did this as a bike spot - locked my bike in the woods at Camp Dodge then drove to Stony Brook Trail to start. Around a half mile up the trail a curious fawn came right up to me, like I could have touched her if I had moved!!!!! Pretty cool!!!! The stretch of Carter-Moriah Trail between Stony Brook Tr and North Carter was REALLY rough - really steep in spots - reminded me of the Mahoosuc Trail!!!! Didn't see many people on the trails at all - decent day out there with threatening skies and a few raindrops here and there between the sunshine! Easy bike ride back to car. Nice views!!!! |
