well defined herd path avoids the lower crossing. while with low water conditions the crossing is fine the herd path avoids the next hundred yard stretch of Irene blown out damage. upper crossing today fine stepping on wet rocks |

traditional late start of 11 ish..a pattern developing. trail nice and dry down below..a few wet spots but very little mud. as noted took herd paths around water which was nice. typical mud spots had a little but really pretty dry hazy hot and humid.. there were some views from the summit area but nothing too clear. presis looked socked in. quite a few folks out for a tuesday..totally greatful for the nice breezes above the switchbacks. met a nice couple from PA headed out into the whites for their first overnights..they were psyched!!!
