Comments
Comments: Trail soft at start so I put snowshoes on early and left them on. Saw one other hiker who did the same. Trail not as well packed as most others and on the return, especially in direct sun, it was soft and compressed a fair amount. As I got lower I even ran into a short area where I postholed in snowshoes despite slowing down and stepping carefully. As for bushwacks I missed the start of the Engine Hill following the earlier hiker, but he then I looped back for it. Some braids but really no problem following it. Near peak there was a short wack to the top I started on but it had thick spruce, so I used the trail proper which was easy, but since I never did see the other hiker after meeting him back at the brook, I'll guess he took that to the top as I was coming down the spur.

Almost no wind even on top. Pepper and I shared a leisurely lunch (for winter) while enjoying the great views and warm sun. What a great day to take off from work. If the trail hardens at all tonight, it could be done before the 1:32 pm Equinox with a moderately early start and a nice pace.
