Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant, Standing/Running Water on Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Avalon - both easy on rocks, A Z first crossing easy on rocks, second crossing a branch in the water actually blocks the crossing - but an easy rock hop a few feet down.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: On AZ after second(?) crossing - there is a cleared blowdown along side of trail but it is at just the right height that you can run into the end if not paying attention when heading up, a little further up the top limbs of a blowdown cover part of the trail you'll need to duck around.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: A few steep sections but nothing challenging - lots of water in streams and puddles today - only saw one canine today.
Bugs
Bugs: A few at the trailhead but none on the trail until the summit and then the black flies were out in full force - even with deet ended up with a number of bites.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Found 6 inch yellow/green bungee cord on AZ trail left at trailhead kiosk.

Comments
Comments: A wet and muddy day on the trails but up top the clouds finally broke in afternoon for nice views of the Pemi. Avalon - wet and muddy with a lot of running water, AZ trail was a lot drier, no running water and only a few minor spots of mud. Mount Tom Spur had a few muddy stretches that were quite deep, can negotiate with care but boots are getting muddy! Hung out at the viewpoint as the clouds broke nice sun shining on the Pemi, presidentials above Eisenhower and Franklin were in the clouds. Many out today on the trails.
