Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Sunday, June 9, 2013
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Good shape. Room for about 20 cars. About 8 cars when I arrived at 7:30AM, about 15 when I left at 1:30PM.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Standing/Running Water on Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Crossing shortly out of parking lot and at junction of relocated sections of trail both very easy.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One irritating blowdown about half way up Frost trail. Had to go around on steep moss covered rocks with hidden gaps in roots. Relocated sections of trail were well blazed and had rock and log steps in many areas for better footing.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Some sections on Frost trail would be tricky for dogs but otherwise I'd say it's fine. Passed a group with dog on Gale River Trail coming down.
Bugs
Bugs: None! Could hardly believe it after last weekend. Assuming because it was cool and overcast. 54 deg F on summit. Few stray gnats in parking area.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: n/a

Comments
Comments: Trails overall were fine. Lower sections of trail were muddy and wet with clumps of wet leaves between rocks. After the small outlook with the large boulder (about half way up) the trail was drier and footing was better. The relocated sections aren't nearly as packed down and rocky so there was a lot of wet exposed roots and slippery mud, particularly the first section before the river crossing.
