Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked on a pulloff at the trailhead on the Kancamagus Highway. I was the only car there and I would say it would fit about 3 cars. When returning the opposite side of the road had a line of cars parked on the side of the road.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant, Standing/Running Water on Trail

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All of them were rock hoppable.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Livermore Pass from the Kanc. to about the intersection of the Flume path wasn't in the best of shape. There was a lot of blowdowns. There is one really bad one went right down the middle of the trail that was difficult to get around. Most of the blowdowns have a lot of branches on it so it was typically easier to bushwhack around them then to go under or over them. There were spots where there was standing water on the trail, numerous spots with avoidable mud, and about one 50 foot section with over the toes to ankle deep unavoidable mud. I was able to get by the deepest parts by stepping on sticks but my hiking buddy wasn't so fortunate and had mud go over the top of his boot. Once we started to gain elevation the trail conditions improved greatly. All of MT Tripyramid trail and livermore trail between the slides was it great shape and there were no issues.

Bugs
Bugs: Black files were terrible especially on Livermore pass. They were biting us the entire hike except when we had a breeze on the top of the south and north slide. I expected them since it is black fly season but it was so bad it wasn't even worth it to stop for a break. We could have taken a break at the top of either slide but it was too hot in the sun. After the 10 hours of hiking I got about 30 black flies bites on me.

Comments
Comments: It was a great hike and a lot of fun despite the bugs, trail conditions on livermore, and hot weather. Both slides were fun to hike on and had nice views. Acceding the north slide at spots was hard to find something to hold on to or a spot for for my boots to have traction. We just took our time and it wasn't too bad. The person I was hiking with had old treads on his boots and he had to stay to the sides to hold on to something or bushwhack the side of it. The top of North peak didn't have much for a view and was muddy and buggy. The Middle peak was more rocky and had view. We didn't realize we summited the south peak until must have passed it and hit the south slide. Descending the south slide was fairly easy. We slide on the gravel at times and just had to watch out for causing rocks to roll down the slide at the hikers below.
