Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: No dogs seen on trail and mine did not come due to the heat. Between Zeacliff and Zealand summit is a large log ladder of about 6 rungs that a small dog can be carried over and a coordinated large dog could probably climb with help. Down would be impossible without help. I couldn't see a sure way up and around the ladder.
Bugs
Bugs: none were significantly annoying with the slight breeze.

Comments
Comments: It started out as a standard hot day to hike but past Zeacliff we started hearing thunder. We sprinted as far as we could before turning back probably fairly close to summit. The thunder stopped part way down until a little ways after leaving the hut. Then the heavens opened upon us with thunder, HEAVY downpour, and some small hail. The Zealand Trail became completely waterlogged as we ran back to the parking lot. After we drove out to Rt 3 there was a heavier rainstorm with pea sized hail so that we had to pull over. The rain was continuing most of ride home so I am not sure how the trails will be after all that rain and wind!
