Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Snow/Ice - Small Patches, Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The only water crossing was higher than usual but very passable by walking over logs and rocks, some were able to pass by wading through the cold water.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: There were only two large patches of mud, one of which is soon to be fixed with the addition of bog bridges, but they both were very passable, and both passed through the new (rerouted) sections of trail. A few blowdowns present but nothing major, and the trail was largely well-drained.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Met several dogs on the trail, all seemed to be doing fine and having a great day. Plenty of water available for dogs to drink.
Bugs
Bugs: Some black flies near the beginning of the trail around the muddy/swampy areas.

Comments
Comments: Despite the high level of the river and rainy past few days, the trail was dry and pleasant. Up on Signal Ridge and on the summit, many trees were encrusted in ice, as well as the observation tower (some falling/melting ice was dangerous). Thanks to whoever built the 4-foot snowman just below the summit!
