I was surprised at how soon the snow started. It got quite sloppy as the day went on. It looked like it would be solid and you would sink 2" in slush. The ledges were snow and slushy ice covered so I put on micro spikes. I met people that came up from Bangor road and said they wished they had brought them. Probably will not need them after today. Another lady turned around on the ledges because she didn't bring them. most of the trail up high that was level was running water or standing water that maybe you could find a rock or root that was not too deep to step on. Lots of water running in the trail. There was a noticeable loss of snow on the way down. Snow should be gone soon with the warm days predicted but it will take a bit for the water and mud to dry up. The ledges were quite windy but the views were great. |
