Parking/Access Road Notes: Haystack Road and Gale River Road open. No problem at either end. 
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Unstable)

Recommended Equipment: Light Traction 
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Several folks were uneasy with the first Little River crossing. All others no problem. 
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Good shape. Blowdowns were either easy step overs or easy to by-pass. 
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Many dogs on the trail. No issues. 
Bugs
Bugs: None till heading down Garfield Tr. Black flies started ~2,900'. Swarming but not biting. 
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: None 
 
Comments
Comments: Sections of old rail above ~3,000'. 6" to 1-2' rail with isolated sections 3+'. Carried spikes but not used. Rail was firm. No postholing. Some folks may want to use spikes for the last few feet to Garfield. Great day out w/ Mike Lynch.
