This would be a fine trail for dogs in general. One steep snow blown area as you come off Mt. Lafayette might have been easier with 4 feet. |

| Comments: |
The trails are mostly well compacted along the entire loop. There was not much snow on Franconia Ridge. The trail on the ridge was windblown in sections and difficult to follow at times. We used micro spikes all day except for a brief period coming off Lafayette where it was steep and a bit slick, and we changed briefly to crampons. We did not need snowshoes. If it gets cold again, steep sections could become very icy. Afternoon snow on Old Bridle Path was kind of mushy. No views from the ridge today--we were in the fog. Congrats to Dave Bailey and Ranae Broderick who finished their winter 4K's! |
