| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
No issues |
| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Ice - Breakable Crust, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Unstable), Standing/Running Water on Trail, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Slush, Snow/Ice - Postholes |
| Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Israel River near trailhead was difficult, but doable, just had to search for a crossing spot. The crossings on the Israel Ridge trail were similar. |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Several minor blowdowns on Castle and Israel Ridge. Two big spruce across tha Castle Trail, up high on trail.
The upper jct.of the Israel Ridge Tr. and the Link has confusing signage, it tells where the Israel Ridge Trail goes up, but not which way to go down. Common sense should tell you, but the signs didn't. |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
I would not recommend the Castle Trail for dogs. |
| Bugs: |
No biting bugs, bu quite a few cobwebs. |
| Lost and Found: |
Found nothing of value, just a couple pieces of someones trash....which we picked up. |

| Comments: |
Some ice and solid rail going up the castle Trail. Coming down the Israel Ridge Trail, lots of snow and unstable rail for a considerable distance, snowshoes would have been helpful. |
