Tom O'Donell and I did an out and back to Pierce on bare ground to around 3000 ft., where our spikes went on until the jct. with the Webster Cliff Trail. The summit is clear and bare rock. The snow pack steadly increases past the Mitzpah Cutoff, but all rails are still firm and postholing wasn't an issue. Beautiful sunny, blue sky day, with a gentle breeze and unlimited views. Met up with John Gutowski (of Team J&J) on Pierce on his way over to Ike. Nice seeing him again. |
