Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The water in Flume Brook was very high and running very fast. There were several water crossings along the Flume Slide Trail where I simply took my boots off and walked through the water because there was no better option.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails were well maintained, HOWEVER, there were some areas (particularly at the second and Flume Brook crossing)where there were no blazes. There were long stretches of the trail where we didn't see any blazes, so be aware!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I saw a few fresh paw prints on the Liberty Spring trail, but no dogs.
Bugs
Bugs: There were a few bugs, but we managed to make it out without any bites!

Comments
Comments: Definitely be prepared to deal with snow and ice starting around the base of the Flume Slide and continuing until after the Liberty Springs tent site. I'd recommend microspikes or Yaktrax (we used Yaktrax and didn't have any issues). Also, the slide is VERY treacherous right now. I wouldn't recommend attempting it unless you are experienced and well-prepared. Also GO UP the slide, NOT down. And take the side trails around the slide, once your boots get wet (which is inevitable on this hike right now), the rocks become excessively slick. Make sure you start early as well, we started around 9:30 AM and finished around 8:00 PM due (with about an hr break on Liberty). The snow/ice and the slide slowed us down a bit.
