Comments
Comments: Hiked for about 15 minutes and then put on microspikes. The trail below the gem pool is still covered in snow. After the Gem pool snowshoes would not be a good choice as there seems to be a ski track and lots of post holes and no level ground anywhere. The snow was still mostly hard packed and microspikes worked well. Once above the treeline the rocks are all bare. Up to Munroe there were just a couple of snow/ice spots that were easily walked around. heading up to Washington from Munroe mostly bare ground/rocks. A couple of snow fields to cross. I barebooted from treeline to treeline. The jewell trail was pretty soft by the afternoon but no real postholing. No wind, no clouds, no people, great views. Great day.
