Comments
Comments: Presi Day! We used spikes on solid ski packed base to Gem Pool then put on snowshoes for the climb to the hut..Sadly carrried them the rest of the way as barebooting or spikes worked fine. The glacier at Lakes Hut is amazing to see. A couple of snowfields but mostly bare rock to Monroe. Crawford Path to Washington a mix of snowfields, solid monorail and bare rock..spikes worked fine. Lovely on the summit but amazingly saw very few hikers today tho a fair amount of skier traffic..some of whom that looked very sad hiking up long stretches of bare rock. Barebooted easily to Jefferson on mostly bare rock. Nice to run into Scott, Gumby, and Rachel on the upper snowfields of Jefferson. The side hill descent area there a little dicey. Quick work to Adams on a long stretch of snowfield then the usual Adams rock. Airline pretty much bare to Gulfside and the hut. Valerie rested her feet there while I tagged Madison . Upper Valley Way solid tho slippery monorail..we stayed with spikes. Once below Scar a mixture of conditions with stretches of monorail, ice sections, bare rock and certainly some mud. April has it all!! Thanks Valerie for pushing through a cold and joining on this excellent hike!!
