Parking/Access Road Notes: Small lot at the end of Scott Road was full when I arrived at 1:00PM. Luckily someone left as I was preparing for the hike. The lot accommodates about a half dozen vehicles.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Stable), Standing/Running Water on Trail, Snow - Spring Snow
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The two crossings of Stony Brook are easy on rocks
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail in good condition. Drainage ditches need to be cleared of leaves on the Hammond Trail. I cut some trees that obstructed the trail. The Chocorua Mtn Club have cut some very large diameter trees to keep the trail open.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Plenty of water available today. Dog must be comfortable on ledges.
Bugs
Bugs: A few but not bothersome.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Toyota keys at the trailhead kiosk. Also one glove at the same spot.

Comments
Comments: There are leaves on the lower portion of the Hammond Trail that runs through the hardwood forest. The leaves are potentially slippery and may conceal loose rocks or roots. The snow began uphill of Bald Mtn. The snow surface was mostly hard packed with no tendency for post holing even in today's warm temperatures. The snow pack is not continuous as there are stretches of bare ground between snow areas. The open ledges were bare and dry.
There were four yellow roses at the summit of Mt Chocorua. They may have been a memorial to the four victims of the Boston Marathon bombing.

Many hikers out today including a couple from Poland. No leaves or wild flowers yet. Great views from the summit (unique perspective from the southeast corner of the White Mtns).
