Comments
Comments: Appalachia parking lot almost full when I went by. One car at Lowe's Store. Lower trail in great shape. Tried trekking poles. They helped on the steep section of the trail, which was pretty much shaped like the butts of descending hikers. Caretaker Juliane was leaving Gray Knob when I got there, and I later met her on the summit. A few groups came up Air Line and Valley Way and summited. Lowe's Path quiet. Back in the woods, I descended on my butt for most of the steeps. MICROspikes not too dangerous for sliding in packed powder. Great hike.
