Snowshoed up the ski trails (still possible to weave a continuous route on snow, though a few short stretches will melt out in the next few days), then across the ridge on the Sosman Trail. Sosman Trail is monorail (still multiple feet of snowpack as well). Small snowshoes worked well for me...others barebooted and left the occasional posthole.
Skied down from the top of the High Country to the bottom of the J-Bar on continuous snowpack this evening (unfortunately it had set up while I was on the Sosman Trail, so lots of ski chattering). I took Ruth's Run to Scramble to Grimes Way to Tippecanoe to Siegel Street to Old Tecumseh to Lower Periphery to Pasture. With the exception of an area on Lower Periphery, I suspect that route will be skiable continously into the weekend. Spectacular wall to wall coverage on Tippecanoe still. |
