| Comments: |
Many blow downs especially in the lower part of the trail (first 1/2 mile). None that hard to get around on snowshoes but more of a challenge on skis. At approx 2800 feet the trail takes a sharp left, hikers have been attempting to follow the former trail which continues straight ahead at this corner. A short distance further tracks start to meander left & straight, as the former trail fades. Tried to brush in the various bushwhacks and left a descent path with at least 3 sets of snowshoes. The mile long switch back was in great shape except for a few leaners. Signal Ridge has tons of snow. Much more then the last time I was up there. Views are endless to the South & West. After that it was a fight to the tower. Followed the trail and removed many blow downs. Stayed left on the trail at the site of the former fire wardens cabin and avoided the very steep BW to the tower. Top of the trail is almost unrecognizable due to the incredible amount of snow on the summit. |
