Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow - Spring Snow
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: BW avoid first few crossings, bushwhacked around the next 2 crossings after the BW, the final crossing still had a snowbridge - but it's in jeopardy and started to collapse under us. It won't last long. Water is quite low, but high (and mushy) snow banks will still make crossings challenging.

Comments
Comments: Barebooted from trailhead on mix of bare trail, ice, start of monorail. Put snowshoes on at the cross-country ski trail junction and kept them on the rest of hike until back to this same spot. Trail is pretty soft and we were sinking in an inch or two even on well packed trail. Engine hill BW had obvious track - was a nice route. With the warm temps, it was very soft and we were sinking in a bit deeper (3-4 inches) - felt like we were breaking trail! We tried to smooth it out on the way back.

As mentioned above, snowbridges on crossings are not really reliable any longer - with warm temps and rain, who knows if they will even be there this weekend. Lots of snow still on the ridge.

Sun poked out during our descent and made for a gorgeous trip back through the glades. Things are getting soft and messy up there - glad we got this one when we did...
