Comments
Comments: At lower elevations alot of snow has disappeared. Quite a bit of ice going up Blueberry Ledge so spikes were helpful. Spikes were all that was necessary on the upper ledges where there is plenty of snow. Crossing Rollins spikes were helpful. It never got too warm so the snow was hard and we never postholed. At the intersection we switched to snowshoes to use the televators. I managed to shear the metal foot piece (stop laughing Rocket21) but they held togather til we got back to our packs and spikes came back on until just after the river crossing where bearbooting was easier where there was little snow or ice. Great views from the top--Washington and the Franconia Range especially. Someone had come up Kate Sleeper, several people had gone right on the Walden Trail just below the Passaconaway summit, and several had descended to the view point. Great day out...thanks to BarbaraR and DaveC for joining me on #400 of 576.
