Comments
Comments: soft snow on the road in the sun. parts are melting out entirely. winslow trail was packed hard and made for great spiking. some significant ice in a couple spots higher up can be gotten around pretty easily. ledges around the summit were mostly bare. barlow trail was not quite as heavily travelled, but still well packed all the way down.
i wore microspikes the whole hike. could bareboot as well. as the snow softens snowshoes could make for easier going in places.
i knew i wanted to do a second short hike after cherry in the morning and have had kearsarge in mind for a while. another peak i have looked at many times, but never climbed. the views from the summit were spectacular. were it not for a pretty heavy and cold wind i could have stayed up there surveying things for a long time. great to be out.
