Comments
Comments: I had forgotten that sometimes the best time to snowshoe is while it's snowing, as the falling snow adds to the scenery. It snowed all afternoon, maybe just two inches of accumulation, but it was light and fluffy, making for a perfect snowshoe. Ammo trail was a little crusty in the beginning but softened up with the increased elevation and new snow. The two of us were targeting Lakes of the Clouds Hut and possibly Monroe but turned around about a quarter mile from the hut in whiteout conditions. We did make one wrong turn at about 4500-4600 feet. We turned right when the trail stayed to the left. If you follow our tracks, about 50 yards in, on the left side of the trail, you'll see a sign that says "No Camping" underneath which someone wrote "Not the trail." I don't know why that didn't register with us, because we continued on. If you reach that sign, turn around and walk down 50 yards, look to the right, and you'll see a tree with a blue blaze; that's where you want to go.

We sledded back down to the Gem Pool in perfect sledding conditions. It was so much fun I almost wanted to go back up and do it again.
