Comments
Comments: Old Bridle Path - Hard packed surface - generally smooth - surefooted ascent to hut
Greenleaf Trail - Mostly hard packed snow on lower section from hut; much bare rock where wind has blown off snow. Little to no ice on trail - no need for crampons
Franconia Ridge Trail - Mixture of bare rock/ledges especially on summits and windward slopes; deeper snow cover on leeward slopes including buried evergreens
Falling Waters Trail - Loose snow and pocked snow surface at higher elevations made for poor traction on descent; hard packed snow surface at lower elevation. No problem with river crossing although some water exposed at Cloudland Falls.
Persistent westerly winds created resistance when traversing the ridge
Clear skies made for great visibility
Saw many hikers today including a 7 year old girl and a 10 year old boy
