| Comments: |
Snowed for the duration of this hike. From Rte 16 found 3" of fresh powder filling in a partial track made by a BC skier perhaps yesterday. The ski track ended at the Imp Trail-North Carter Trail junction, and above the junction there was 8" or more of untracked powder. Lots of drifting on Carter-Moriah Trail. As I was returning from the Middle Carter summit, descending the first ledges, I encountered a group of three hikers and their dog coming up. It wasn't possible to carry on a conversation due to the high winds, but they thanked me for breaking out the trail and I was delighted to see them knowing they firmed-up the track for an easier and much faster descent than the climb up. Due to the snow and wind the track was already filled-in on exposed sections. Another great day in the White Mtns! |
