Got a late afternoon start and met two bare booters coming down from summit about a mile up from base of trail. They had snowshoes on their packs, did not use them much, and said that breaking trail was hard work. Yes, I agree, especially sans snowshoes. I bare booted in their boot steps up to the tent platforms, then tried to smooth out the post holes the best I could on the way up and down from the summit, which I reached we'll after sunset. Too tired to break out trail to Flume, which was my original intention. Trail now in fine condition for fast descents. |
