| Comments: |
avalon trail solid and choppy to Mount Tom Spur. Spur trail packed solid and easy going. Cut off corners on consolidated snow from the col to Willey Range Trail which was well packed to Field. Section over to Willey not as well travelled..many postholes and quite the rough footbed in places. Took Avalon trail on descent which was in better shape than I had expected with even some rather lumpy bumpy glissading. Saw one other person today, in spikes, who was punching through in places, fine in others. We wore snowshoes from car to car, they were the right choice today. Picked up from 1-3 inches of nice fluffy stuff while we were out..may hide some of the divots. Also..the gray Jays have competition!! We saw Pine martins at all three summits, they were barely afraid of us at all and hastily gathered any crumbs we had dropped. Kid of cool..they were all pretty small. nice day out with cynthia |
