Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: lower main crossing open with high banks..was running pretty good this morning..some turned around there. I took a leap of faith and it worked out..on descent water had dropped a bit exposing some sollid ice to step on ..several of the smaller brooks running under the trail now, upper crossing solid but looked like water flowed over it at one point

Comments
Comments: cloudy and misty in the notch so I shifted gears a little bit. many of the brooks along the road quite high with open channels. trail was quite soft to bugle cliff, pock marked by booters as you would expect. above there it was a bit more firm with less damage showing though one young man in spikes punched out a few places. he was headed to webster without snowshoes..I wished him luck on that one. jackson branch solid most of the way with very rough pocked footbed in places..sadly too rough for any butt sliding ..ramp to the summit intact, a bit of ice around the cone. breezy and in the clouds so no reason to hang around. happy to see a couple of large school groups headed up at least part of the way this afternoon..they all had snowshoes and hopefully the trail gets a little flattened out before the refreeze...good day out
