Hiking Trail Conditions Report
Peaks
Peaks Mt. Tecumseh, NH
Trails
Trails: Mt. Tecumseh Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Monday, March 11, 2013
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: In spite of a busy day on the slopes, we were able to park very near to the trail head (it was Monday, maybe the weekend would have been worse). WV maintains the lots well.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow - Wet/Sticky, Snow - Spring Snow
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Small brooks at beginning were running and easy to cross. The larger brook, right before the steep climb starts, is still bridged. Also easy to cross.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: As always, this trail is wonderfully cared for by its maintainer (and if I weren't so tired right now, I'd look him up to thank him right here right now!). Blazes are marked really well, signs are good.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Did not see any today. If your dog likes spring snow and doesn't mind a climb, this should be good.
Bugs
Bugs:
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Someone left a dark glove on the trailhead sign.

Comments
Comments: Have not been hiking since mid October, so this seemed tough for me. The Trail was nicely packed. Kind of like a winter sidewalk, nice and smooth, but traction is necessary. Slight postholing on the edges of trail if you are not careful. Got a late start, only saw three other hikers. Two with 'spikes and one with crampons. We used our 'spikes, snowshoes went for a ride. Microspikes were adequate for 98% of the time, the loop near the summit may have been better on snowshoes. By the time some of you read this, the warm temps and coming rain/snow may totally change this picture.
