Comments
Comments: Firm base in the morning on Crawford Path with a couple inches of fresh snow. Bare booted to the summit of Pierce (some drifting of 1-2 feet for a 100 yards or so before the intersection to go to the summit. Put shoes on for the summit and over to Eisenhower expecting drifting, trail wandering and spruce traps. Had all of the above plus a big mess from bare-booters. By the time I came back across the ridge, despite more bare booting, the snowshoers had the upper hand and along with melting/sticky snow and later sintering it was setting up well. When I got back to Pierce the trail was a hard packed highway back to the Highland Center. Kept my snowshoes on anyway. Awesome bluebird skies, temps in the 40's and little to no wind. A perfect set up for my first winter Presi ridge walk. Loved it!
