Comments
Comments: Started at lions head around 7 to try and beat the rush since the weather was perfect. The first part of lions head winter starts out steep with some parts requiring good crampon placement and use of an ice axe. The trail continues to rise with another part requiring good ice axe use and front pointing. From there its an uphill grind to the top of lions head above tree line. Hit summit of Washington at around 10, beating the rush of 100+ people making there way to the top. Blue skies with temps in the 40's and winds in the 20-30 mph range made for an amazing day with views all the way out to the ocean. Descended down washington pretty quick but did get held up at the top of the last steep section for an hour as a guide group of unexperienced hikers made there way down the section. Overall, one of the best days ive had in the Whites.
